The photo book "Besi, Tres Xemeneies, Barcelona" is dedicated to the hidden and abandoned worlds of the Catalonian capital.
The photo book is divided into four chapters: The first chapter explores the relics of the abandoned metro construction site of the Besi-TBM. The second chapter takes the reader to the daring heights of the Tres Xemeneies, an abandoned power plant on the Mediterranean coast. The third chapter dives beneath the city into one of the twelve stormwater detention ponds. Each chapter highlights key developments in Barcelona’s modern history. Chapter 4 frames these discoveries within Barcelona’s unique cityscape.
Due to the recent resumption of the stalled metro construction site and the removal of the legendary Besi tunnel boring machine, the book has now gained historical significance as it documents the failed outcomes of a long-negotiated public transport plan and its challenging engineering.
